“All About Evangelion” Limited-Run Magazine Out Now

On April 28th, limited-run magazine “Black Past” released its latest issue, titled “All About Evangelion”. The magazine is edited by literary critic Shuusei Sakagami, who released his first novel, “Sekijitsu no Alice”, in April. “All About Evangelion” features interviews with actress Chiaki Kuriyama and author Hiroki Azuma, as well as short stories, essays, and discussions about the anime series. Contributions include short stories by Kuro Ohma and Kisetsu Morita; essays by Tamaki Saito, Shuusei Sakagami, Daisuke Watanabe, Sayawaka, Yuichi Murakami, and Hiiro; round table discussions; and numerous other features. “All About Evangelion” first went on sale on April 28th at the “Niconico Chokaigi 2” event, and was available at the…

“Girls und Panzer” Theatrical Movie to be Released in 2014

A theatrical film based on popular TV anime series “Girls und Panzer” will be released in 2014. “Girls und Panzer” tells the story of a world where high school girls compete in the art of tank battling. The TV anime series was broadcast from October 2012 to March 2013. The movie adaptation was announced on April 28th at a fan event in Tokyo titled “Heartful Tank Carnival”. The movie will be directed by Tsutomu Mizushima, the director of the TV anime series. Event Promoting Upcoming Anime Series “Uchoten Kazoku” to be Held at Kyoto’s Minami-za Kabuki Theater

To promote the upcoming July premiere of anime series “Uchoten Kazoku”, a special event will be held at the Minami-za kabuki theater in the anime’s primary setting of Kyoto. The comedic anime series is based on a short novel written by Tomihiko Morimi, also known for his earlier novels “Yoru wa Mijikashi Arukeyo Otome” and “The Tatami Galaxy”. The series, which takes place in Kyoto, features a main cast consisting of humans, raccoon dogs, and goblins. The series’ character design is led by manga artist Koji Kumeta, known for creating manga series “Sayonara, Zetsubou-Sensei”. Real-life escape game teams up with “Case Closed” for “Escape from the Skyscraper!”

The real-life group participation event “The Real Dasshutsu (Escape) Game” is teaming up with the anime series “Case Closed” to create a new event called “Escape from the Skyscraper,” which will tour 33 cities in Japan. “The Real Dasshutsu Game” is a real-life group activity wherein participants use their wits and reflexes to escape from menacing mazes and solve puzzles. The game has been held in office buildings, schools, amusement parks, hotels, and even Tokyo Dome- and each game has a unique mystery store to go along with the experience. Starting from late April, Square Enix has begun selling candy based on the iconic Slimes from the Dragon Quest video game series. The candy is packaged in a bottle shaped like the series’ Giant Slime. Each Giant Slime-shaped bottle contains 8 pieces of Slime candy and retails for 980 yen. Candy refills are available for 500 yen. The candy is available exclusively at Artnia, the official Square Enix store in Higashi-Shinjuku, Tokyo.
