The curry is part of Bandai’s brand of character-themed food products, and the second release in the “Ultra Diner” series. The curry, titled “SSSP’s Curry”, is based on a similar food seen in the original 1966-1967 “Ultraman” TV series; specifically, curry and rice eaten by the Science Patrol in episode 34, “A Gift from the Sky”. Doll maker Azone International will be releasing the latest in their “Pure Neemo” series, a doll based on character Tsukiko Tsutsukakushi from TV anime series “The ‘Hentai’ Prince and the Stony Cat”. Preorders for the doll started on May 31st. Based on a light novel series with 1.3 million copies in print, the popular romantic comedy often abbreviated as “HenNeko” started its Japanese TV broadcast this April. Bandai Candy Toy has released a new set of Evangelion trading cards, titled “Neon Genesis Evangelion Wafers Comic Special”. The cards include artwork based on the Evangelion comic that was serialized in monthly manga periodical “Young Ace”. The comic has proven to be so popular that the most recent July issue of “Young Ace” featuring the final chapter of the Evangelion comic sold out quickly enough to warrant reprinting it in the upcoming August issue. The plastic cards are packaged with chocolate wafer snacks, and feature high-quality artwork by manga artist Yoshiyuki Sadamoto and foil embossing. In May, Bandai’s official online store, Premium Bandai, released an extremely limited run of figures based on legendary “Ultraman” monster Gomora. The figure is a reproduction of Ancient Monster Gomora, one of the most famous monsters from the “Ultraman” live-action TV series, dating back to the first installment of the show. Each handmade figure was crafted by leather artisan Kazutaka Fujita from real goat leather, with a cow leather base carved with Gomora’s footprints. Like the first production run in February, only 15 figures were made, each with a serial number on the sole of Gomora’s foot. The figure retails for 252,630 yen.
