Martial arts manga series “Baki”, created by Keisuke Itagaki, will be receiving a TV anime adaptation based on the series’ “Most Evil Death Row Convicts” story arc.

The “Baki the Grappler” franchise has totaled 123 volumes with 63 million copies in print, and is currently serialized in Akita Shoten’s Weekly Shonen Champion. The upcoming anime adaptation, produced by TMS Entertainment, follows 2001 anime series “Baki the Grappler” and a 2016 original animation DVD commemorating the franchise’s 25th anniversary.

The “Baki” series tells the story of teen martial artist Baki Hanma, who fights in underground arena battles in an attempt to defeat his father, Yujiro Hanma, a bare-knuckle brawler known as the “strongest creature on Earth”. Along the way to his ultimate goal, Baki does battle with a wide array of other opponents in hand-to-hand combat.
