Ultra-J, a project that uses iconic superhero Ultraman to promote Japanese culture, has released the second entries in a series of traditional Japanese handicrafts featuring the popular character.

The project, produced by Curation Japan in partnership with Ultraman creators Tsuburaya Productions, uses the 50-year-old superhero to draw attention to tourism destinations, local foods, and other highlights from Japan’s 47 prefectures. The project’s site also sells a variety of Ultraman-themed traditional Japanese items, with the newest handicrafts including an Arita ware Color Timer cup and bowl, kokeshi dolls, decorative kombu shapes, and kombu sake cups.

The Arita ware Color Timer cup and bowl are made with traditional Japanese porcelain techniques, and are based on the Ultraman series’ chest-mounted Color Timer light. The set retails for 7,800 yen, plus tax.

The kokeshi dolls, produced by doll company Usaburo Kokeshi in Gunma Prefecture, depict series characters Ultraman, Eleking, Pigmon, Alien Baltan, Belial, Zetton, and Dada. Each large doll costs 3,900 yen, while small versions sell for 3,200 yen, plus tax.

The kombu sake cups are made with solidified kombu kelp, laser-etched with artwork of Ultraman characters. When sake is poured into the cups, they infuse the alcohol with the taste of kombu. Each cup retails for 2,000 yen, plus tax.

The decorative kombu shapes consist of cut-out silhouettes of Ultraman and other characters made from dehydrated kombu kelp. When immersed in water for five minutes, the shapes expand to their original size. Each packet retails for 450 yen, plus tax.

All items are available from the Ultra-J Online Shop.
