Anime Fashion Brand SuperGroupies Releases Cardcaptor Sakura Handbags
The Battle Costume Model Bag is perfect for carrying while out on a date.
Upscale anime fashion brand SuperGroupies will be releasing two handbags based on Clamp manga series Cardcaptor Sakura.
Originally published in Kodansha manga periodical Nakayoshi from 1996 to 2000, Cardcaptor Sakura rose to prominence when it was made into an anime series by Madhouse in 1998. Many modern otaku in their late 20s and early 30s view the series as a formative part of their childhoods, maintaining their love of Cardcaptor Sakura to this day.
SuperGroupies will be releasing two different Cardcaptor Sakura handbags, one based on the uniforms worn by students at fictional Tomoeda Elementary School, and the other resembling the cat ears on a costume worn by main character Sakura Kinomoto.
The first handbag, made from textured black leather, is based on the characteristic long sleeves of the Tomoeda Elementary School uniform. The sides of the bag feature a design resembling the sailor uniform’s cuffs, identifiable to Cardcaptor Sakura fans but still stylish enough for daily use.
The second handbag is based on the cat-eared outfit worn by Sakura when she captured the Thunder card, a popular costume in the series’ history. The bag’s outer shell is made with pink tweed, and includes a cat ear-shaped ribbon accessory to complete the cute look.
Each bag retails for 12,000 yen, plus tax. Orders will ship in late September. Supplies are limited, and sales will end when quantities are exhausted.
