Darth Vader and Imperial Military Solid Gold Coins On Sale Now
Star Wars Darth Vader Gold Coin
Precious metal jewelry maker Ginza Tanaka is releasing a series of gold coins featuring artwork of Darth Vader and the Imperial Military from Star Wars.
Created to commemorate the first new Star Wars movie in 10 years, the coins are being sold from May 4th through April 30th, 2016. Resembling a koban, the oval-shaped coin formerly used by Japan, the Darth Vader coins are available in 5-gram, 10-gram, and 30-gram sizes. The coins feature an image of Vader on the front and the symbol of the Imperial Military on the reverse, and are sealed in a custom acrylic case. Also available is a special Imperial Army set, limited to 54 units produced and consisting of one 30-gram Darth Vader coin and ten 5-gram Stormtrooper coins, set in a framed display case.
The price of the coins changes daily based on the market value of gold. For example, with the market value of gold at 5,000 yen per gram, a 5-gram coin would cost 65,000 yen, a 10-gram coin would cost 130,000 yen, a 30-gram coin would sell for 390,000 yen, and the framed Imperial Army set would be available for 1 million yen.
