Sony has created a web-exclusive video for the new Ghost in the Shell movie to promote their Bravia line of 4K TVs.

The video includes interviews with Mitsuhisa Ishikawa, president of Ghost in the Shell series animation production company Production I.G and supervising producer of the upcoming movie, as well as other members of the film’s staff. Ishikawa describes the long road that led to the new movie, starting 25 years ago with Masamune Shirow’s release of the original manga and 23 years ago when Mamoru Oshii decided he wanted to produce an animated adaptation of the series. The staff of the upcoming movie discuss their thoughts on its production, ranging from selection of scene backgrounds to the 3D CGI used in the film.

The staff also shares their thoughts on 4K technology. Ishikawa illustrates the comparison between standard HD and 4K through a scene in the film where cherry blossoms fall, while director of photography Tanaka states that the advent of 4K allows previously unseen details from years-old works to finally appear.

The new Ghost in the Shell film opens in Japanese theaters on June 20th. The Sony Bravia X9300C 4K TV series will be released on the same day.
