Lupin III Ukiyo-e Art Prints On Sale Now
The first-ever Lupin III ukiyo-e prints
TMS Shop, the official online store of animation studio TMS Entertainment, is currently accepting preorders for Japanese-style ukiyo-e art prints based on anime and manga series Lupin III.
Originally available in limited quantities at February’s “Lupinissimo in Isetan 2016” special event at the Isetan Shinjuku department store, the ukiyo-e prints are made with traditional Japanese techniques by Kyoto-based woodblock printing company Takezasado. Each print bears the names of its respective character in Japanese script, written by famous calligrapher Tansetsu Ogino, and is printed on Japanese washi paper produced by living national treasure Ichibe Iwano.
Five individual prints, retailing for 64,800 yen each, depict one of five characters in traditional Japanese clothing, including Lupin and Jigen. A set of all five prints, signed by series creator Monkey Punch, sells for 540,000 yen. Both the individual prints and five-print set are framed and matted on a gold background. A panoramic print of all five characters in the canals of Venice is also available for 162,000 yen.
