Meisho Movie Realization Akazonae Royal Guard

Bandai will be releasing an action figure of a Royal Guard from Star Wars reimagined as a feudal Japanese warrior.

The figure is part of the “Meisho Movie Realization” series, which puts a traditional Japanese spin on famous movie characters. Known as the Akazonae Royal Guard, the figure joins other Star Wars releases in the series, including Samurai Taisho Darth Vader, Ashigaru Stormtrooper, Ronin Boba Fett, Teppo Ashigaru Stormtrooper, and Death Star Armor Samurai Taisho Darth Vader.

The Royal Guard, a high-ranking member of the Galactic Empire’s armed forces, is reimagined as an elite akazonae armored samurai. The dynamic design was created by Takayuki Takeya, with the figure sculpted by Junichi Taniguchi. The figure’s front robe pieces are removable, allowing the Royal Guard to be displayed in a custom set of samurai armor. The Royal Guard’s iconic force pike and vibrosword have been reconfigured into a spear and katana, the latter of which can be displayed both sheathed and unsheathed.

The figure retails for 8,856 yen, including tax. Preorders are currently open, and the figure will ship April 2016.
