The second season of TV anime series “The Heroic Legend of Arslan” premiered on July 3rd.
The anime series is based on Hiromu Arakawa’s manga adaptation of Yoshiki Tanaka’s light novel series. Set in Pars, a fantasy world modeled after historic Persia, the dramatic story follows the adventures of crown prince Arslan.
The first season, which started in April 2015, documented the hardships and growth of Arslan, and concluded with the Parsian army preparing to march on the Lusitania-held capital of Ecbatana. The high-quality production and dramatic story garnered fans of all ages, all of whom have been eagerly awaiting the story’s continuation.
The second season, titled “The Heroic Legend of Arslan: Dust Storm Dance”, starts with King Andragoras III ordering Arslan to recruit an army of 50,000 men.
One of the key events of last season was the reveal of Lusitanian army commander Silvermask’s true identity as Arslan’s cousin, Hilmes. The current season, lasting a relatively compact eight episodes, will cover Silvermask’s attempt to reclaim his birthright from Arslan by invading Pars and taking the throne for himself.
“The Heroic Legend of Arslan: Dust Storm Dance” airs Sundays at 5:00 PM on 28 MBS/TBS stations across Japan. A spinoff short anime series titled “Corporate Warrior Arslan” is currently available on YouTube.
