Pokemon Center Megatokyo Opens in Ikebukuro
The Pokemon Center Megatokyo opening ceremony was attended by Pikachu and gravure idol Risa Yoshiki.
On December 12th, official Pokemon store Pokemon Center Megatokyo opened in Ikebukuro’s Sunshine City.
With 8 locations across Japan, the Pokemon Center sells over 2,500 different officially-licensed products for every type of Pokemon fan. The new location is the result of relocating from Hamamatsucho, Tokyo, and lives up to its “Mega Evolution” concept by occupying 698 square meters of real estate. The store features a new logo incorporating the evolved Mega Charizard Y, and the store’s decorations include a selection of other Mega Evolutions. Limited edition merchandise is also on sale, including a plush doll of Pikachu wearing a Mega Charizard Y poncho.
Ikebukuro’s Sunshine City is also home to a variety of other family-friendly, anime-themed establishments, including Jump amusement park J-World Tokyo, indoor theme park Namja Town, and Nippon Animation official shop ANiCUTE, among others. In addition, the area also attracts a significant number of teens and young adults, making it the perfect location for the new Pokemon Center Megatokyo.
Until January 16th, customers will receive a limited edition “Megatokyo Pikachu” trading card with any purchase. Players of the new Pokemon Omega Ruby and Alpha Sapphire games will also be able to download alternate-color versions of Mega Charizard Y and Pikachu.
The store is open daily from 10:00 AM to 8:00 PM. It will remain open until 9:00 PM on December 25th.
Pikachu visited the Sunshine Aquarium after moving.
