New Details Revealed for Kyoto Animation Film “A Silent Voice”, Opening September 17th

A Silent Voice

New details have been revealed for upcoming Kyoto Animation theatrical film “A Silent Voice”, premiering in Japan on Saturday, September 17th.

Based on the critically acclaimed manga series by Yoshitoki Oima, “A Silent Voice” tells the story of a deaf girl and the boy who used to bully her. The movie will be produced by Kyoto Animation and directed by Naoko Yamada, known among anime fans for her work on “K-On!” and “Tamako Love Story”.

The film stars Miyu Irino and Saori Hayami as the voices of main characters Shoya Ishida and Shoko Nishimiya, respectively. The newly announced supporting voice cast includes Aoi Yuki as Yuzuru Nishimiya, Shoko’s younger sister who also faces a hearing disability; Kensho Ono as overweight classmate Tomohiro Nagatsuka; Yuki Kaneko as Naoka Ueno, a girl who is secretly in love with Shoya; Yui Ishikawa as the cute, freckled Miyoko Sahara; Megumi Han as driven and determined honor student Miki Kawai; and Toshiyuki Toyonaga as Satoshi Mashiba, a boy who is interested in becoming Shoya’s friend.

The combination of talented cast and experienced crew has made the film highly anticipated among anime and manga fans. To promote the film, the official site has recently added interviews and post-production impressions from the main cast, as well as free downloads such as wallpapers and Twitter icons.
