Starting on October 31st, Hokkaido’s New Chitose Airport will be holding the New Chitose Airport International Anime Festival 2014.
The festival, held at Japan’s first airport with a permanent movie theater, will be comprised of three parts, including a short animation competition, screenings of invited works, and a hands-on workshop. The event will run through November 3rd.
The short animation competition will feature works from around the world, including both Japanese and overseas entrants. The screenings of invited works will feature TV anime series such as “Terra Formars”, “The Seven Deadly Sins”, and “Celestial Method”, as well as appearances and interviews with the series’ voice actors. The overnight portion of the screening will include the “Puella Magi Madoka Magica” films, “Akira”, and “Metamorphoses”, among others.
The children-oriented workshop will feature hands-on animation experiences, such as building clay models for stop-motion animation, creating two-frame animations, and bringing drawings to life through a movable video camera. Taking place simultaneously will be the T x T Garage Presents Pop Culture Fair, which includes a Hatsune Miku exhibition, “Madoka Magica” movie exhibition, the “Terra Formars x Good Smile Company” booth, and a “Seven Deadly Sins” exhibition.
The complete festival lineup and event times can be found at the event’s official site.
