From August 5th to 17th, an exhibition of artwork from Yuki Midorikawa’s manga series “Natsume’s Book of Friends” will be on display at the 7th floor of the Mitsukoshi department store in Sendai, Japan.
The exhibition is the first to display Midorikawa’s artwork in the ten-year history of the serialized manga series, and has been traveling around Japan since last year. It includes over 200 pieces of original artwork, focusing mainly on “Natsume’s Book of Friends”, but also includes pieces from other works by Midorikawa, including “Akaku Saku Koe”, “Atsui Hibi”, “Hotarubi no Mori e”, and “Hiiro no Isu”.
The exhibition also includes Midorikawa’s art supplies and rough drafts, a display that documents her work process, and the opportunity to buy limited edition merchandise and prints. Similar to the exhibition’s previous Osaka stop, for an additional fee, guests can utilize recorded voice navigation provided by voice actor Hiroshi Kamiya, the voice of Takashi Natsume from the “Natsume’s Book of Friends” anime series.
Admission is 700 yen for adults, 500 yen for college and high school students, 300 yen for middle school students, and free for elementary school age and younger. The exhibition is open daily from 10:00 AM to 7:00 PM, and will close at 6:00 PM on the last day.
