Osamu Tezuka/Isao Tomita/Hatsune Miku Collaboration Album Out Now

Standard Edition

“Hatsune Miku Sings Osamu Tezuka and Isao Tomita Live Music”, an album celebrating the 90th birthday of manga artist Osamu Tezuka, the 85th birthday of composer Isao Tomita, and the 10th anniversary of voice synthesis software Hatsune Miku, was released on September 6th.

A promotional site for the album is currently hosting audio samples of each track, as well as a video combining song clips with a behind-the-scenes look at the recording process. The video, hosted by Hatsune Miku herself, features interviews with the album’s participants and special guests.

The album is performed by a jazz ensemble, led by pianist Masahiko Sato, performing songs written by Isao Tomita for Osamu Tezuka’s works, including “Princess Knight”, “Jungle Emperor Leo”, and “Dororo”. Vocals are performed by virtual singers Hatsune Miku, Kasane Teto, and more, including duets with live vocalists.

Miku also serves as the album’s navigator, providing narration between songs. As a special ending, the album’s final track is a spoken word tribute to Tezuka’s works, marking Miku’s first official rap/poetry reading.

The album’s standard edition retails for 3,000 yen, with the limited-edition first pressing available for 4,800 yen. The limited edition comes with five alternate covers and a set of three metal pins, as well as a download code for two outtake tracks from the recording sessions.

In related news, the Ozamu Tezuka Manga Museum in Takarazuka, Hyogo Prefecture, will continue to celebrate its 71st anniversary with “Hatsune Miku x Osamu Tezuka Exhibition: The World Connected by Isao Tomita”. The exhibition will run until October 23rd.
