Yasushi Akimoto-produced 2D digital idol group 22/7 have announced the release of their debut single on September 20th, as well as the production of an anime series based on the group.

The digital idol group was started by Aniplex in conjunction with Sony Music Records. The idols’ character designs were created by some of the biggest names in the anime industry, with each artist responsible for designing one of eight members. A series of open auditions narrowed down an entrant pool of 10,325 applicants to the final group selected to voice the idols.

The group’s debut single, “Boku wa Sonzai Shiteinakatta”, and the upcoming anime adaptation were revealed at their debut live event on July 22nd. The song will feature vocal performances from 22/7’s 11 members, as well as a surprise appearance from previously unpublicized members Moe Suzuhana, Aina Takeda, and Urara Takatsuji.

The limited-edition “Type-A” CD single will cost 1,667 yen, and comes with a DVD and one of eight character trading cards. The “Type-B” CD single, also a limited-edition release, costs 1,204 yen and includes one of 11 artist trading cards.

The single will be released on September 30th in a limited run of 10,000 copies. A special release event is being planned for the Tokyo area.
